Safety Critical Role
Are you passionate about making communities safer and tackling anti-social behaviour? Hyndburn Borough Council is looking for a dedicated Community Safety Officer to join our team and help create safer, more confident communities across the borough.
As Community Safety Officer, you'll be at the forefront of our work to tackle anti-social behaviour, particularly in Accrington Town Centre. Working with partners across the public, private and voluntary sectors, you'll coordinate joint initiatives, manage complex casework, and develop innovative solutions to community safety challenges.
This is a hands-on role where you'll lead on ASB investigations, gather evidence, and take enforcement action where needed. You'll also establish and coordinate multi-agency Task & Finish groups, engage with residents and community groups, and support funding bids to deliver community safety objectives.
We need someone with:
• Experience working in community safety or an enforcement role tackling anti-social behaviour
• Knowledge of current ASB legislation
• Strong investigative skills and the ability to prepare cases for legal action
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities across all levels
• The ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and problem-solve in complex situations
• A-Level/NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) or relevant practical experience
• GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
• A current driving licence and access to a car
What we offer
• Competitive salary
• The opportunity to make a tangible difference to local communities
• Work with diverse partners across multiple sectors
• Professional development and training opportunities
• A supportive team environment
The role requires occasional working outside normal office hours to respond to community safety needs. Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check and is designated as safety critical
