The Opportunity

You will play a central role in supporting and developing our future educators. You will work within a dedicated and supportive Teaching and Learning Team that has built a strong reputation for its comprehensive Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes over the past four years. Your focus will be on leading the teacher training curriculum, driving innovation, and supporting the continuous improvement of teaching, learning and assessment across the college.

In this role, you will oversee the development and delivery of the Teacher Training Programmes, ensuring they remain current, responsive to the needs of our learners, and aligned with sector standards. You will contribute to the recruitment and selection of trainees, ensuring that each individual has the skills and potential to succeed. You will also play an active role in student support, quality assurance, and curriculum development, working closely with internal and external partners to maintain high academic standards and an excellent learning experience.

You will model exceptional teaching and learning practice, delivering sessions and leading by example to inspire confidence in your trainees. As part of the college observation team, you will assess and support the development of teaching standards, providing clear, constructive feedback and coaching to encourage continuous professional growth. You will also be involved in preparing for ITE inspections and working with validating partners to ensure programme compliance and excellence.

Ultimately, you will be instrumental in developing confident, capable teachers who can deliver exceptional educational experiences. Through your leadership, coaching and example, you will help embed a culture of excellence in teaching and learning that supports both staff and students to achieve their full potential.

About You

You will bring a wealth of experience in education and a genuine passion for developing others. You will have a deep understanding of what makes teaching and learning exceptional, combined with the confidence to lead teacher training programmes that blend academic rigour with practical, professional development.

You will have experience teaching or supporting students on Higher or Further Education programmes, along with evidence of exceptional and innovative teaching practice in the FE environment. You will understand what it takes to deliver engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning experiences, and you’ll have the academic expertise to underpin your practice. Your understanding of Higher Education assessment and study requirements will allow you to support trainees effectively as they progress through their programmes.

You will have a successful track record of leading or contributing to Higher Education programmes and a thorough knowledge of external regulatory frameworks and strategies, such as the Education Inspection Framework (EIF), QAA, Apprenticeship initiatives, and technology frameworks such as JISC or ETF. You will use this knowledge to ensure compliance, quality, and continuous improvement across the teacher training provision.

You will be proactive in sharing best practice and fostering a collaborative culture where professional learning and reflection are embedded in everyday practice. With a solution-focused approach, you will analyse teaching and learning quality and provide clear, evidence-based ways forward. You will be confident drawing on research-informed teaching and learning approaches to support continuous improvement across the college.
