Summary


We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Biospecimen Co-ordinator to join our friendly team working cross-site in both Chelsea and Sutton. The successful applicant will have demonstrable experience in sample management in the context of research governance. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including with patients, are required for this role. Data Management experience and good liaising skills would be an advantage.

• To work as part of the Biobank sample collection team working within the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and our Academic Partner Institute of Cancer Research at Chelsea and Sutton sites.
• To be responsible for collecting and processing blood and tissue samples for multiple clinical units and studies across the institution.
• To record and track patient samples stored by the biobank in line with regulatory requirements.
• To manage data requirements for the biobank including but not limited to report generation, data queries, data query resolution and preparation for audits.

• Collection and processing of clinical samples (tissue and blood) from multiple units and sites across Royal Marsden and Institute of Cancer Research.
• Liaise with patients, clinicians, surgeons, research nurses, pathologists and laboratory staff to identify and co-ordinate sample collection.
• Ensure that the principles of the Human Tissue Act and Good Clinical Practice are always upheld and that all samples collected have appropriate patient consent.
• Ensure sample integrity is maintained at all times and samples are transported to an appropriate storage facility in a timely fashion.
• Dispatch samples to collaborators following developed SOPs or ethically approved protocols. Document any deviations from protocol and inform the Tissue Bank Manager.
