Summary
Position: Estates Maintenance Officer, reporting to The Clerk (who is also the Responsible Financial Officer)
Salary: £23,063 per annum: SCP 18-23 £30,559 - £33,366 (FTE).
Hours: Part time at 28 hours per week.
Pension: Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) with 12.7% employer contributions.
Annual Leave: 5.8 weeks, plus Bank Holidays.
Location: Armthorpe Community Centre, Welfare Park, Church Street, Armthorpe, Doncaster, DN3 3AG.
Armthorpe Parish Council is seeking a proactive, hands on Estates Maintenance Officer to take responsibility for the care, maintenance, and smooth running of our parks, open spaces, and burial ground and to provide support in maintaining the community centre. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the local community, ensuring our facilities remain safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained for residents, visitors, and community groups.
About the Role
Based across Council sites, including Armthorpe Community Centre, Welfare Park, the burial ground, and other open spaces, you will coordinate and deliver a wide range of operational, maintenance, and compliance tasks. The role combines practical work with planning, record‑keeping, contractor supervision.
The role involves coordinating and supervising contractors, planning work programmes, and ensuring effective delivery of maintenance tasks. It includes managing the upkeep of parks, open spaces, and the burial ground, carrying out inspections, and supporting funeral services sensitively when required.
The post holder will also maintain Armthorpe Community Centre, undertaking or overseeing repairs and ensuring the building is safe and ready for use.
Health and safety is a core element of the role, including completing risk assessments and ensuring safe operation and maintenance of Council vehicles, tools, and equipment.
The role supports Council events, works collaboratively with staff, Councillors, volunteers, and the public, and maintains accurate administrative records. Additional duties include undertaking relevant training and carrying out other reasonable tasks aligned with the post.

Experience in facilities, grounds maintenance, or a similar operational role is
desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
