Summary
We are recruiting for motivated Emergency Care Assistant's to join our Emergency Department team, who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) role is a vital and valued role within the nursing team. The ECA post holder will work collaboratively and co-operatively under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families/carers.
ECAs are required to undertake Care Certificate training, which comprises a set of standards developed for the health and care support workforce that underpin the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care. Post holders are required to undertake the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Clinical Healthcare Support, unless they have already obtained a recognised qualification or experience at a comparable level.
This post is based in the Emergency Department, the post holder may be required to work across the Urgent & Emergency care services at Lister Hospital including: Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the english and maths assessment on Friday 10th April 2026. Only candidates who pass the assessment will be invited back for interview at a later date.
Assisting the nursing staff in maintaining a safe environment and delivering a high standard of patient care.
You will be trained to achieve a high level of practical skills for use within the Emergency Department. It is anticipated that you will be capable of undertaking the following duties: baseline observations, ECG recording, cardiac monitoring, venepuncture, cannulation, and basic life support.
You will also gain experience in wound care and closure techniques, application of support/splintage (under instruction from registered nurse), urinalysis, pregnancy testing, and assisting patients with mobility, nutrition, hygiene, and comfort.
In addition to the various clinical skills you will be expected to learn the basic layout and the functioning of medical equipment.
