Summary
1:1 SEN Tutor - SEMH Support/English & Maths (LA13)
- Location: Burrow-In-Furness
- Pay: £25 - £30 per hour
- Hours: 10 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 2 hours per day)
- Schedule: During school hours (Term-time)
The Role
We are looking for a reliable and down-to-earth tutor to support a Year 10 student living in the LA13 area.
This student is currently working below age-related expectations and requires consistent, specialized support to bridge gaps in English and Maths. Due to their SEN needs, they require an educator who can strip back the curriculum and rebuild their confidence in a calm, neutral environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Targeted Tuition: Delivering 2-hour daily sessions. Learning will incorporate functional literacy and numeracy tasks, project-based learning, and low-pressure academic activities to rebuild stamina for learning.
Creative Adaptation: Breaking down complex concepts into manageable, engaging tasks tailored to the student's specific learning pace.
Environment Management: Meeting the student at their home to provide a structured yet low-pressure learning space.
Building Rapport: Establishing a safe, trusting relationship to help the student overcome barriers to learning.
Progress Tracking: Monitoring small wins and adapting your approach to ensure the student feels a sense of achievement every day.
Schedule & Compensation
Hours: 10 hours per week, ideally spread across Monday to Friday.
Timing: Sessions take place during school hours, providing an excellent work-life balance.
Rate: £25 - £30 per hour.
Why apply?
Your sessions may be the only educational support a student currently receives. This role is about more than tutoring - it's about helping young people rebuild confidence and reconnect with learning.
This job is being advertised on Senploy - the UK's favourite education and SEND job board. If you are ready to embark on a rewarding and fulfilling journey as a Tutor, we encourage you to submit your CV for consideration. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of students and contribute to their academic and personal growth.
