Attenborough Surgery is a long-established, award-winning GP practice and single-practice Primary Care Network (PCN). We serve approximately 33,000 patients across four sites in the Bushey and Watford area; all located within 15 minutes of each other and near Junction 5 of the M1. Role Overview
We are seeking an independent, highly skilled MSK Physiotherapist to join our clinical team. Working alongside another FCP, GPs, and nurses, you will provide rapid diagnosis and management for patients with musculoskeletal issues.
• Access: You will assess patients who self-refer through reception or online consultations without requiring a prior GP referral.
• Decision Making: You will act as a First Contact Practitioner, using high-level clinical reasoning to triage, diagnose, and manage complex caseloads.
• Clinical Autonomy: You will request and interpret investigations (such as x-rays and blood tests) and develop comprehensive management plans.

Core Responsibilities
• Patient Care: Deliver tailored programmes focused on self-management, behavioural change, and physical activity to minimize the need for pharmacological intervention.
• Advanced Skills: Utilize clinical skills such as non-medical independent prescribing, joint/soft tissue injections, or joint aspirations.
• Service Delivery: Lead and contribute to streamlining care pathways to ensure timely, proactive, and preventive access for the population.
• Professional Judgment: Manage complex interactions involving psychosocial or mental health needs and make justified decisions in unpredictable situations.
• Collaboration: Participate as a full member of the MDT, providing learning opportunities for the wider team and contributing to service evaluations and research.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Development
• Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy and current HCPC registration.
• Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
• Proven portfolio experience in core and MSK physiotherapy.
• Desirable: Holding or working towards a prescribing or postgraduate physiotherapy qualification.
Skills & Knowledge
• Expert Practice: Ability to manage and review care programmes for long-term conditions and identify when specialist referral is necessary.
• Governance & Leadership: Understanding of workplace vision, quality improvement, and risk management protocols.
• Professionalism: Adherence to legal, ethical, and NICE guidelines, maintaining accountability through evidence-based practice and peer review.
• Communication: Ability to communicate sensitive information regarding diagnosis and prognosis effectively to patients and carers.
Learning & Research
• Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD) and mentoring others.
• Ability to evaluate evidence and apply research findings to clinical practice.
