An overview of the role is detailed below: The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the nursing team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Partners, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels: Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes on the clinical computer system as appropriate. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the Practice. Cytology Wound care / ulcer care /Doppler Removal of Sutures Health checks - Obtaining appropriate information using a lifestyle questioning approach and identifying appropriate health promotion issues. Working with patients to develop a management plan where health problems or potential health problems are identified Urinalysis Venepuncture Undertake the collection, storage and despatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment so used. Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs. Travel vaccinations ECGs Ear syringing Routine immunisations / Childhood immunisations / Travel immunisations Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician Contraception. Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings Asthma / Peak Flow Readings / Spirometry Hypertension Management Diabetes management Coronary Heart Disease management - Checking compliance with and adherence to appropriate treatments using an holistic patient-centred approach. Identifying the impact of treatment and implementing or recommending changes as appropriate. Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development.
