Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our dedicated GI nursing team based at our Chelsea site within The Royal Marsden Hospital.

As a CNS, you will play a pivotal role in delivering expert clinical care, providing specialist support from diagnosis through treatment and beyond, ensuring patients and their families receive compassionate, coordinated and high-quality care.

The successful candidate will work closely with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including consultants, allied health professionals, and specialist nurses, to deliver seamless patient-centred care. The role includes participation in late clinics and cross-site working where needed to support the service.


We are looking for a motivated and experienced nurse with:
-Significant post-registration experience in HPB or GI surgical oncology care
-Excellent clinical assessment and communication skills
-The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist (HPB surgical CNS) to join our dedicated team based at the Chelsea site.



The HPB surgical CNS provides advanced nursing expertise supporting patients with HPB tumours from diagnosis through all stages of disease. This role is integral to delivering effective, compassionate, and efficient specialist care to patients with complex GI conditions and their families. The postholder will also provide cross-site cover across The Royal Marsden locations when required, ensuring that the patient remains at the centre of all aspects of care.

•Provide a clear focus for nursing, maintaining a highly visible and authoritative presence within the unit, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care across all settings.

• Deliver expert assessment, management, and continuity of care for patients with HPB cancers, supporting patients and their families throughout the disease pathway.

• Use advanced clinical judgement to plan, deliver, and evaluate individualised care and ensure timely referral to appropriate specialists.

• Manage a personal caseload and act as a key worker where appropriate to coordinate care and maintain effective communication across services.

• Discuss treatment options, including interventions, with expertise and sensitivity, supporting informed decision-making while acting as a patient advocate.

• Contribute to the development and delivery of targeted patient support initiatives and collaborate with the Patient Information Service to develop and update accurate, accessible patient resources.

• Work collaboratively with consultants, allied health professionals, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and effective care.

• Identify and support vulnerable patients, facilitating appropriate referrals to community and specialist services.

• Provide clinical expertise in planning and delivering audits, risk assessments, and service improvements, escalating issues where necessary.

• Undertake nurse-led and telephone clinics to assess symptoms, coordinate investigations and provide ongoing advice and support.

• Contribute to holistic needs assessments (HNA) and care planning, ensuring timely referrals to relevant professionals and services
