Summary
The Good Care Group Scotland, part of Sodexo, is seeking compassionate and naturally friendly part-time Community Support Workers for a brand new and growing service in Edinburgh. We are flexible with hours.
The Role:
As a Community Support Worker, you will visit clients in their own homes. You will be supporting individuals with mental health, learning disabilities, and other complex needs, helping them to live more independently, improve their wellbeing within their community, and access the community with your guidance and support. All client visits have a minimum call time of 1 hour.1
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties span seven core areas, ensuring comprehensive support for your clients:
Daily Living Support:
- Assisting clients with personal care (bathing, dressing), household tasks (cooking, cleaning, shopping), and supporting medication routines (per training and policies).
- Promoting Independence: Encouraging clients to develop life skills, supporting them to manage their own routines and responsibilities, and helping them set and achieve personal goals.
- Emotional and Social Support: Offering encouragement, listening, helping to reduce isolation, and supporting mental wellbeing.
- Community Access: Accompanying clients to appointments, activities, or community programs; and helping them access essential services like healthcare, housing, and employment support.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Observing changes in a client’s health or behavior, recording progress, and reporting concerns to supervisors or care teams.
- Safeguarding and Advocacy: Protecting clients from exploitation or neglect, speaking up for their rights and needs, and adhering to safeguarding policies.
- Working with Other Professionals: Collaborating with nurses, social workers, therapists, and families; attending care meetings; and implementing care plans.
What We Are Looking For:
To be considered, you must have at least 6 months experience in care. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate the following key skills:
