Location: Swansea, South Wales (on‑site)
Salary: £100,000 pro rata
Contract: 6‑month Fixed Term Contract

Are you an experienced technical buyer with strong capital procurement expertise?
This is a high‑impact opportunity to join a major UK industrial environment and take ownership of technically‑complex capital purchasing across multiple project streams.
You'll be the technical procurement specialist supporting engineering, operations and project delivery teams-ensuring all capital investments are sourced competitively, contracted robustly, and delivered effectively.
As a Technical Buyer (Capital Projects), you will:
- Manage end‑to‑end procurement for a portfolio of capital projects (equipment, engineering services, materials and works).
- Lead tendering, technical evaluations, supplier negotiations and contract placement.
- Ensure alignment with internal processes, procurement governance and regulatory standards.
- Build strong working relationships with engineers, project managers and internal stakeholders to understand technical requirements and delivery drivers.
- Select suppliers based on capability, compliance, commercial risk and long‑term value.
- Monitor and report project-related financial benefits and sourcing outcomes.
- Maintain robust audit trails and documentation at all stages.
You'll excel in this role if you have:
- 5+ years' procurement or commercial experience with significant capex exposure.
- Strong grasp of technical specifications, engineering documentation and capital project lifecycle.
- Proven ability to negotiate bespoke terms and conditions independently.
- Solid contract law and procurement governance knowledge.
- Excellent communication, analysis, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
- A proactive mindset, with the ability to challenge, guide and influence cross‑functional teams.
- Highly organised approach and a natural attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Degree‑level education or equivalent industry experience.
- CIPS membership or progress toward it.
- A high‑profile role supporting major capital investments.
- Ownership of multi‑million‑pound procurement activity.
