POST: Lead Practitioner for EnglishACCOUNTABLE TO: Executive Principal, Principal, under the day-to-day management and leadership of the Academy Leadership Team line manager and the Joint Senior Lead Practitioner

We’re seeking an English Lead Practitioner to champion great teaching across the faculty and the wider academy, someone who is an outstanding classroom practitioner and loves coaching colleagues, shaping curriculum, and turning evidence into impact for young people. You’ll model ambition in the classroom and help move good practice to great, at scale.
What you’ll do
• Lead best practice in teaching and learning - working with fellow Lead Practitioners, subject leaders and the Academy Leadership Team to enhance pedagogy
• Plan and deliver high‑quality CPD (coaching, mentoring, deliberate practice), including induction support, ITT/ECT development, and targeted uplift where it’s needed most.
• Model outstanding teaching in KS3-KS5, refine schemes of learning and accompanying resources, and embed effective assessment that secures excellent progress for all learners.
• Use data intelligently - set, track and evaluate progress, identify underachievement, plan interventions, and support colleagues to use assessment information to close gaps.
• Contribute strategically, supporting monitoring, evaluation and review, input to the Academy Improvement Plan, and uphold high standards of behaviour and inclusion.
• Safeguard and include all, promoting student welfare, nurturing positive attitudes and relationships, and enriching learning through extra‑curricular opportunities.
What you’ll bring
• QTS and a proven record of excellent teaching with success in raising attainment in English.
• Deep knowledge of the National Curriculum and assessment, with the ability to translate research and data into classroom practice.
• Credible experience leading staff development, including coaching/mentoring and reviewing the quality of teaching.
• Strong classroom culture setting and behaviour management, high expectations, and a commitment to equal opportunities.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and reflective practice, and alignment with the Oasis ethos.
