We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Team Manager to support our Complex Safeguarding Service, with a dedicated focus on tackling exploitation and risk outside the home. This is a pivotal management role, driving forward our commitment to protecting vulnerable children and young people from harm, including criminal, sexual, and other forms of exploitation.
This role is central to our statutory duties in safeguarding children and young people, ensuring that robust systems are in place to identify, assess, and respond to risks associated with criminal, sexual, and other forms of exploitation.
As Assistant Team Manager, you will work within a skilled multi-disciplinary team, ensuring effective safeguarding practice, robust risk management, and innovative interventions. You will work closely with partners across police, health, education, and voluntary sectors to disrupt exploitation and safeguard those at risk.

The post holder will provide support the team manager in operational leadership and management oversight of a dedicated team, ensuring effective practice, compliance with statutory guidance, and the delivery of high-quality outcomes for children and families.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the team manager to provide clear leadership and direction to the Complex Safeguarding Team, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.
- Support the team manager to oversee the management of complex cases, ensuring timely assessments, risk management, and safeguarding interventions.
- Ensure practice is consistent with legislation, statutory guidance, and local safeguarding procedures.
- Support team manager to lead on partnership working with police, health, education, and voluntary sector colleagues to coordinate responses and disrupt exploitation.
- Support the team manager to monitor performance, quality assure practice, and report on outcomes to senior management and safeguarding boards.
- Provide supervision, support, and professional development opportunities for staff, ensuring a resilient and skilled workforce.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Substantial experience in safeguarding children and young people, with a strong understanding of exploitation.
- Proven management and/or supervisory skills within a statutory safeguarding context.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice.
- Strong partnership working skills, with the ability to influence and coordinate multi-agency responses.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, service development, and the delivery of positive outcomes for children.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work on a rota basis.
