Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Licensing Team for a full time (37 Hours per week), Licensing Advisor. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a public facing environment within a busy team, be adaptable, creative and ideally have experience or understanding in dealing with and processing licensing applications (or equivalent). The successful postholder will work as part of a small team to assist with the processing and technical review of licensing applications, relating to a broad spectrum of Licensing Activities. This interesting role includes the processing of licences related to animal health and welfare, alcohol, regulated entertainment, gambling and taxi licensing to name but a few.

The successful candidate will be expected to deal with a wide array of technical administration involving the interpretation of complex legislation. The postholder will be required to have an excellent understanding of relevant ICT skills and packages including word processing and database management. The role will require regular interactions on the telephone with applicants/licence holders and members of the public and any experience of working in a public facing environment is desirable. You will ideally have a understanding of licensing law and regulations and be able to work on your own initiative within statutory timescales.


As part of the wider Public Protection Service, you will have the opportunity to work alongside colleagues who carry out a wide range of statutory functions, including Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, Neighbourhoods Enforcement and Trading Standards and there will be opportunities to work collaboratively across the teams when necessary.
