Job Description:
Manual Turner
A well-established hydraulic engineering company based in Dewsbury is looking to recruit a skilled Manual Turner to join its modern and well-equipped machine shop.
With over 35 years of experience in the fluid power industry, the company specialises in the design, manufacture, supply and repair of high-quality hydraulic equipment including cylinders, pumps, motors, valves and power packs. The business focuses on specialist, high-end bespoke work and low-volume production, offering an interesting and varied workload rather than repetitive mass production.
The Role
Working within a large in-house engineering and hydraulics workshop, you will be responsible for producing precision-machined components, mainly one-off and small batch parts (1–10 pieces) used in hydraulic cylinders and associated equipment.
This role would suit someone who enjoys precision work, problem-solving and variety, as much of the work is bespoke and requires a high level of skill and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Operating manual lathes to produce precision components
Producing one-off and small batch components
Working from engineering drawings and samples
Carrying out screw cutting and general turning operations
Managing your own workload and working to production schedules
Maintaining high quality and accuracy standards
What We’re Looking For
Previous experience as a Manual Turner / Manual Machinist
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience producing bespoke or low-volume components
Ideally some experience with NC lathe work
A proactive and self-motivated approach to work
What’s On Offer
Competitive salary (depending on experience)
Overtime opportunities available
Modern, well-equipped machine shop
Supportive engineering team environment
Varied and interesting work on specialist hydraulic equipment
Long-term stability with an established engineering business
Part-time hours may be considered for the right candidate
If you are an experienced Manual Turner looking to work on high-quality bespoke engineering projects within a well-established and respected company, we would love to hear from you.
