Summary

Mechanical Design Engineer – Pressure Equipment
Location: Brownhills
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum

Workforce are currently working with a leading engineering business delivering innovative solutions in the design and manufacture of pressure vessels, pressure pipework, and heat exchangers.

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic team and design cutting-edge pressure equipment, fabrication jigs, and fixtures—all while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ️ Design and develop pressure vessels, pressure pipework, and heat exchangers in line with ASME III, ASME VIII, PD 5500, BS EN 12952


  • Produce detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for manufacturing


  • Conduct stress analysis, material selection, and design calculations to ensure safety and integrity


  • Review and improve existing designs for functionality, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client requirements


  • Maintain accurate design documentation and project records


  • ✅ Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations


    Key Requirements:

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline


    • Proven experience in mechanical design of pressure vessels, pipework, and heat exchangers


    • Strong knowledge of ASME III, ASME VIII, PD 5500, BS EN 12952


    • ️ Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)


    • Experience with stress analysis and material selection for pressure equipment


    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills


    • ⏱️ Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines


    • Must be a British national eligible for UK security clearance due to the nature of the work


      Desirable Skills:

      • âš¡ Experience in power generation, oil & gas, chemical, or energy sectors


      • Familiarity with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software


      • Chartered status or working towards IMechE / IED chartership
