Mechanical Design Engineer – Pressure Equipment
Location: Brownhills
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum
Workforce are currently working with a leading engineering business delivering innovative solutions in the design and manufacture of pressure vessels, pressure pipework, and heat exchangers.
We are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join a dynamic team and design cutting-edge pressure equipment, fabrication jigs, and fixtures—all while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:

ï¸ Design and develop pressure vessels, pressure pipework, and heat exchangers in line with ASME III, ASME VIII, PD 5500, BS EN 12952

Produce detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications for manufacturing

Conduct stress analysis, material selection, and design calculations to ensure safety and integrity

Review and improve existing designs for functionality, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet client requirements

Maintain accurate design documentation and project records

✅ Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Key Requirements:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

Proven experience in mechanical design of pressure vessels, pipework, and heat exchangers

Strong knowledge of ASME III, ASME VIII, PD 5500, BS EN 12952

ï¸ Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)

Experience with stress analysis and material selection for pressure equipment

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

â±ï¸ Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Must be a British national eligible for UK security clearance due to the nature of the work
Desirable Skills:

âš¡ Experience in power generation, oil & gas, chemical, or energy sectors

Familiarity with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software

Chartered status or working towards IMechE / IED chartership
