Summary


We are looking for a dynamic Physiotherapist with a keen interest in inpatient rehabilitation to join our team at Herts & Essex Hospital in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire on a 9 month fixed term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the field of rehabilitation and is open to both newly qualified and experienced Physiotherapists.

Herts & Essex Community Hospital has 32 beds for in-patient rehabilitation. Patients are admitted from either an acute medical unit or another community hospital facility. There is also the ability to admit patients direct from the community via the Integrated Community Team, into a designated “step-up” bed.

Patients will generally be admitted for a period of up to 17 days rehabilitation, before being discharged to the relevant destination.

A wide range of physical conditions are accepted including frailty, falls, amputees and orthopaedic conditions etc. There is a full Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nurses, therapy assistants, doctors, and support from adult care services support.

You will be joining a friendly supportive team where professional guidance is readily available. A supervision structure and opportunities for continuous professional development are strongly encouraged.

A weekend working pattern will be required approx, 1 in 4/5

The post holder will work under direction of the Lead Therapists helping to provide a rehabilitation service on a 1:1 and group therapy basis. They will be an excellent communicator, with the assessment and treatment skills needed for a variety of conditions, orthopaedics, frailty and amputees. Providing excellent clinical reasoning skills and giving expert advice, guidance and information to patients, health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non-professionals, to facilitate safe and timely discharges. The post holder will deputise for the Lead Therapists when needed, and will provide supervision for junior staff, therapy support workers and students.
