Summary
Clinical Care The postholder will support the delivery of stroke services for Greater Peterborough and Southwest Lincolnshire. The primary base will be Peterborough City Hospital, working within the Hyperacute and Acute Stroke Units, with potential cross-site work at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. The role forms part of a team of twelve stroke specialists providing emergency and hyperacute care, acute and rehabilitation care, virtual stroke services, and TIA and outpatient clinics. The postholder will work closely with consultants to ensure equitable service provision and contribute to cross-cover arrangements. Research The Acute Stroke Centre is highly research-active and supported by specialist research nurses. The postholder will have opportunities to participate in national and international studies and to develop original research. The service is recognised for leadership in point-of-care ultrasound and contributes to multiple international programmes, including WON and SECRETO, alongside pre-hospital stroke research initiatives. Teaching and Training The postholder will provide specialist advice across the Trust and contribute to the education of multidisciplinary teams. The department delivers regional and national stroke training, including simulation programmes, and is active in international POCUS education. The role includes supervision of junior doctors and teaching of medical students. Leadership and Governance The postholder will contribute to service management, development of regional stroke pathways, and clinical governance. Participation in audit, mandatory training, and infection prevention standards is required.
