Summary

The job is structured to provide a broad-based experience of Healthcare of Older people and is aimed at doctors who have completed MRCP examination. The post holder will have direct consultant clinical supervision. During this post the candidate will be supported in gaining competencies in Healthcare of Older people. A comprehensive guide to all duties and responsibilities will be outlined in the induction handbook and meeting including the following: *To ensure a safe and high standard of care of all patients in Healthcare of Older people. To work within the guidelines and practices of the Department and the hospital. This includes liaison with colleagues in ED and other departments. *To ensure that good communication is maintained with all medical colleagues, e.g. anaesthetists, nursing staff and paramedical departments such as physiotherapists, radiographers and ancillary staff, to the benefit of the patient. To ensure Specialty Registrars and Consultants are kept informed regarding alteration in the condition of any of their patients. To ensure that all in-patient notes are kept up to date and tidy. To communicate to a patient's relative the progress of that patient. *Perform duties outlined as above or in the job plan to appropriate level of expertise *To be responsible for the care of older patients on the wards. *To assist with the clinical training and supervision of resident medical staff, medical students and other allied health professionals in Medicine. *To comply with the CPD and revalidation requirements of the relevant college of the candidate and the GMC. *To participate in mentoring sessions with the designated departmental clinical/educational supervisor. *To participate in the quality improvement programme. *To complete an annual appraisal using the system within UHB between 1 April and 30 September. *To attend the departmental teaching programme. *To accept that occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances may occur, and to respond professionally to the needs of the service when they arise. ***This post will close at 12pm on Friday 24/01/2025 with interviews scheduled for 29/01/2025 - please ensure you are free to attend.***
