Practice Nurse High Street Surgery, Cheslyn Hay Hours: Discuss at Interview | Reports to: GP Partners (Clinical) / Practice Manager (Administrative) Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our friendly, well-established team at High Street Surgery in Cheslyn Hay. You will provide high-quality, patient-centred care, supporting both patients and the wider clinical team. This role offers the opportunity to deliver a broad range of nursing services within a collaborative, supportive environment while contributing to professional development and service improvement. Main Duties Deliver holistic patient care including chronic disease management (Asthma, COPD, Diabetes) and opportunistic assessments. Carry out cervical cytology (smears) and manage Open Exeter returns. Perform routine swabs, wound care, sutures and clip removal, venepuncture, and minor illness assessment. Administer childhood, adult, catch-up, and travel vaccinations, providing comprehensive travel health advice. Conduct contraceptive and health checks, offering lifestyle advice and facilitating behaviour change. Support minor procedures and assist with minor surgery. Maintain accurate clinical records according to NMC guidance. Ensure infection prevention and control, including PPE management, hand hygiene, and sterile environments. Monitor and maintain clinical stock and equipment, including refrigeration and emergency equipment. Contribute to practice audit, quality improvement, and compliance with QOF standards. Participate in training, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development. Organisation Overview High Street Surgery is a friendly, well-established GP practice providing comprehensive care to our community in Cheslyn Hay. Our team includes 2 GP Partners, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant, 1 Phlebotomist, and a dedicated administrative team. Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration. Evidence of ongoing professional development and NMC revalidation compliance. Safeguarding Level 3 training (Adults & Children). Desirable Qualifications Postgraduate qualifications in relevant areas such as chronic disease management, minor illness, or sexual/reproductive health. Training in immunisation, travel health, or wound management. Teaching, mentoring, or supervisory experience. Essential Experience Working as a registered nurse in primary care or comparable healthcare setting. Delivering clinical assessments, long-term condition management, vaccinations, and minor procedures. Experience in accurate record keeping, clinical governance, and quality improvement. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Desirable Experience Experience in cervical cytology, travel health consultations, minor surgery support, or chronic disease clinics. Familiarity with EMIS or other electronic patient record systems. Involvement in service development, audit, or clinical education. Other Responsibilities Maintain confidentiality of patient and practice information.
