Summary
A Vacancy at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Applications are invited for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Cornea and Oculoplastics for a twelve month post commencing August 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Ophthalmologist to broaden their training in these fields.
As well as working with the consultant team in clinic, this fellowship is surgically intensive with at least two theatre lists. The candidate should have good knowledge of general ophthalmology and the management of acute ophthalmic conditions; with a high level of competence in cataract surgery and emergency eye service being desirable. As a department we are keen to develop our clinicians, encouraging their own professional development and goals.
The clinical fellow will help support the busy cornea and oculoplastics services; working with the clinical lead to ensure patients referred to the services receive excellent care and treatment. The successful candidate will obtain training in the assessment, diagnosis and management of these patients as well the Acute Eye Service.
The successful candidate is expected to participate in all the other on-going activities of the department including audit, research projects and to attend departmental meetings and teaching sessions.
Thank you for showing an interest in working with us at Epsom and St Helier – a family of more than 7,000 colleagues.
We are truly an integrated health and care Trust. In simple terms, that means that as well as the services we provide at our acute care hospitals (Epsom in Surrey and St Helier nearby in south west London) we work with local GPs, mental health services, community providers and local authorities, with the joint aim of preventing local people from becoming unwell, and when they do, that they receive the right care, in the right place, with the right support.
We also work as part of the St George’s, Epsom and St Helier Hospital and Health Group, with a shared leadership and increasing collaboration to develop stronger clinical and corporate services between two major providers serving Surrey and South West London. Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 490,000 people living across southwest London and northeast Surrey.
“As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination uptake as this remains the best line of defence against COVID19.”
Please see attached job description and person specification for further details about this opportunity.
