Caretaker (Scale 4) within Islington Council’s Homes and Neighbourhoods Estate Services team, responsible for delivering cleaning, maintenance, and estate management services across council housing estates. Duties include maintaining communal areas, removing litter and graffiti, reporting repairs and incidents, undertaking minor repairs, managing estate tools and equipment, supporting refuse and utility services, monitoring estate conditions, and building positive relationships with residents. The role also involves maintaining records, responding to emergencies, supporting safeguarding responsibilities, and ensuring compliance with health and safety, equality, and council policies.
Essential requirements include experience in cleaning or caretaking within residential or public environments, ability to carry out minor maintenance tasks, good communication and customer service skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, basic record-keeping and IT skills, awareness of health and safety practices, and the ability to engage positively with residents including vulnerable individuals.
