The Bristol Adult Congenital Heart Disease Unit (ACHD) is a specialised centre for adults with congenital heart disease within the Bristol Heart Institute (BHI). The BHI provides secondary and tertiary cardiac services in a purpose built environment. We provide congenital heart disease services for approximately 6 million people throughout the South-West of England with additional interventional services for South Wales. Our team consists of four full-time ACHD Consultant Cardiologists and one Congenital Cardiologist with a mixed paediatric and adult practice. We have four congenital cardiac surgeons, four specialist ACHD nurses, two senior ACHD fellows, one ACHD NTN trainee, an MDT co-ordinator and full administrative support. The unit is closely linked with the General/Acquired Cardiac Services and with the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Applicants should hold MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification and should be on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register, or be within 6 months of their CCT date at interview.

We are looking for dynamic individuals who want to join our ACHD team. The following subspecialty interests are desirable: Imaging, including peri-procedural imaging. The expected ACHD on-call and ward cover commitment will approximately be 1 in 5, with cross cover. The post-holder will work in close collaboration with the ACHD team, consultant cardiologists, paediatric cardiologists, congenital cardiac surgeons, obstetricians, cardiac anaesthetists and the intensive care teams.

The post-holder will be provided with an adequately equipped office, including information technology facilities and will have secretarial and administrative support.

The contract will be held with the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. The post-holder will also have responsibilities to develop and contribute to continuing education, professional development, audit and research within the Division and the Trust.
