Talent Education is currently recruiting an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive secondary school in Tameside, providing targeted support to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a full-time role beginning after February half term and continuing until July, offering the opportunity to make a real difference in helping secondary-aged pupils engage positively with their education.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
• Support students in developing emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Help pupils remain engaged with lessons and school routines
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral teams to support individual behaviour and learning plans
• Build positive relationships to encourage confidence, resilience, and engagement in learning
• Contribute to a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
Your role will focus on helping students overcome barriers to learning and supporting them to achieve their potential.
• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
• A calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to support pupils aged 11-16 across different subjects
• A dedicated consultant who understands your experience and career goals
