Gloucester Academy, part ofGreenshaw Learning Trust, has an exciting opportunity for a committed and highly skilledLead Practitioner of Mathsto join our established andhigh-performing Mathematics team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026(with the opportunity to start inJuly if possible).

We are seeking an exceptional classroom practitioner with a proven track record of impact, who is ready to lead on Key Stage 4 outcomes and contribute to whole-school teaching and learning development.

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status and a good honours degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
• Has a strong track record of securing excellent outcomes, particularly at KS4.
• Has experience of leading colleagues and positively impacting teaching and learning.
• Demonstrates outstanding classroom practice and models excellence across the department.
• Has detailed knowledge of current curriculum and pedagogical developments, particularly at KS4 (Edexcel).
• Can analyse progress and attainment data to drive curriculum design and targeted intervention.
• Is confident delivering staff training, coaching colleagues and leading professional development.
• Shares our core values of Ambition, Excellence and Pride.
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

As Lead Practitioner of Maths, you will:

Within the Mathematics Department:

• Role model exceptional KS4 teaching and deliver consistently high-quality lessons across all key stages.
• Lead on the planning, sequencing and assessment of the KS4 curriculum.
• Take responsibility for KS4 Maths outcomes.
• Support the department by leading on pedagogy, curriculum development and resourcing.
• Analyse progress and attainment data to inform strategic curriculum and intervention decisions.
• Work collaboratively within the department and across the Trust to ensure outstanding progress for all students.
• Embed a knowledge-led curriculum and evidence-informed practice.

• Work in close partnership with the Assistant Headteacher for Teaching & Learning and other Lead Practitioners to develop and deliver the school’s Teaching & Learning strategy.
• Deliver high-quality whole-staff CPD and evaluate its impact.
• Engage fully in the Developmental Drop In (DDI) process, both giving and receiving feedback.
• Support school improvement work across the Trust where appropriate.
• Set and model the highest standards of behaviour and professional conduct.
• Play a full and active role in the life of the school, including duties, CPD and whole-school events.
