Salary: G9 SCP 34-38. £45,091 - £49,282

(In addition we have introduced an allowance paid £2025 p.a., for applicants who are qualified/practising Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) subject to certain requirements).

An exciting opportunity exists to join Rochdale Borough Council Adult Social Care Service as an Advanced Practitioner Social Worker.

This post is fulltime and permanent.

The Job:

The post holder will provide leadership, management and supervision to social workers and support planners in the team. The post requires a working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 Mental Capacity Act 2005 and statutory Safeguarding and awareness of S117 Aftercare under the Mental Health Act.

This role is part of the management team and therefore, not case-holding.

Professional requirements:

Essential:

Qualified social worker

Registered with Social Work England

The post-holder will either be a qualified practising AMHP or if not, be already on the AMHP training pathway or be willing to train. For qualified AMHPs an allowance is paid (subject to conditions)

In addition, you must either be a qualified Best Interest Assessor (BIA), or be willing to train as a BIA to support the rota.

Knowledge and Skills required:

As a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, you will have experience of working in adult social care and/or a mental health setting and have a good working knowledge of relevant legislation and procedural frameworks.

You may have experience of supervising staff and/or student social workers.

You will be able to use your knowledge and experience to make decisions and guide others in managing complex cases.

You will also be able to promote a learning environment and implement quality assurance frameworks to achieve positive outcomes

Knowledge and skills of working in a supervisory capacity, working with a wide range of partners are also a key part of the role.

The offer:

Regular supervision and continual professional development opportunities from a supportive Adult Social Care management team.

Training and career development opportunities may for example include: AMHP training, BIA training, Practice Educator training, opportunities to support student placements, ASYE and support staff through social Work progression pathways.

Applicants, who already have an AMHP qualification, will have the opportunity to practice as part of a rota that supports those AMHPs who are based within the dedicated AMHP Hub. There is regular professional supervision available to all AMHPs, access to AMHP refresher training, and management support. (An allowance paid £2025 p.a., is available for applicants who are qualified, practising Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) subject to certain requirements).

Applicants who are already a qualified Best Interest Assessor, will have the opportunity to take part on the BIA rota.
