As an Engineering Team Lead in our Estates and Maintenance Service, you’ll help us keep essential engineering services running smoothly across the hospital estate. Your work will support a safe, well‑maintained environment that directly affects patient experience and community wellbeing.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring our engineering services, trades colleagues, and maintenance activity all run efficiently and safely. You’ll guide colleagues, support improvements, and help us deliver a service that makes a positive, lasting impact.
What you’ll do as an Engineering Team Lead You’ll be entrusted to:
- Supervise and support the daily work of maintenance colleagues and specialist subcontractors.
- Plan, allocate, oversee, and implement planned and reactive maintenance across engineering services, plant, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Provide technical guidance in your core trade and help develop and train colleagues.
- Assist with costing, resourcing, and assessing minor works and life‑cycle schemes, as well as supporting stores with bespoke materials and stock.
Does this sound like you? You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
- An NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering trade, plus 18th Edition IEE Regulations.
- Experience supervising colleagues in a building services or engineering environment.
- Strong technical knowledge across key building services areas such as control engineering, medical gases, building fabric, or mechanical/electrical systems.
- Good computer literacy and familiarity with facilities management systems.
- A collaborative, customer‑focused approach, with the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Vetting and checks:
A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be completed so we can ensure you have the necessary support to perform your duties.
