Support Worker - Days
Pay rate: £14.50 per hour - weekly and monthly pay is available
Shift pattern:TBC
We are looking for caring, reliable and confident Support Workers to join a small, consistent 2:1 daytime team supporting an adult male who lives independently in his own property. He sustained a brain injury and now mobilises using a wheelchair, requiring full personal care, moving and handling, and safe use of hoisting equipment.
At times, he may express frustration verbally, especially when routines change or things feel difficult. With calm, consistent and patient support, he responds well and is able to settle quickly. He has some reduced cognitive understanding, but he has capacity and communicates his needs and preferences clearly.
Your support will help him lead a rich, enjoyable life, maintain his independence at home, and access his community confidently.
What you’ll be doing
As a Day Support Worker, you will make a real difference by enabling him to live safely, comfortably and in line with his preferences. Your role will include:
- Providing respectful, high‑quality personal care
- Supporting all moving and handling needs using hoisting equipment
- Driving his automatic Motability vehicle to help him access the local community
- Supporting him to enjoy activities, including regular visits to a hydrotherapy pool
- Encouraging social interaction, structure and emotional wellbeing
- Helping him prepare meals and maintain a tidy, organised home environment
- Supporting clear communication in a way that works best for him
- Promoting independence while offering reassurance and calm presence
This is a meaningful role where your support brings purpose, routine and enjoyment to his everyday life.
Who we’re looking for
We want Support Workers who are:
- Experienced in personal care and hoisting / moving & handling
- Confident supporting adults with brain injuries or similar needs
- Patient, steady and able to manage occasional verbal aggression professionally
- Good communicators who can build trust and maintain clear boundaries
- Able to drive an automatic car (essential for accessing community activities)
- Reliable, positive and committed to helping someone live a full and enriched life
Your compassion, confidence and consistency are what make the biggest difference.
