Summary
Role Title: VMWare SME
Duration: contract to run until 30/10/2026
Location: Knutsford, Hybrid 3 days per week onsite
Rate: up to £637,43 p/d Umbrella inside IR35
Role purpose / summary
Design, deliver, and govern secure, scalable Azure Virtual Desktop environments that meet business, user, and security needs.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect AVD solutions: host pools, session hosts, FSLogix profiles, and image lifecycle.
- Implement security: Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, Defender, network controls.
- Lead deployments and migrations from on‑prem VDI to AVD.
- Optimise performance and cost using autoscaling, monitoring, and usage analysis.
- Produce HLD/LLD documentation, runbooks, and handover materials.
- Enable operational teams and support early‑life troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with cloud, security, networking, workplace, and application teams.
Key Skills:
- Strong hands‑on Azure Virtual Desktop architecture experience.
- Deep knowledge of Entra ID, FSLogix, Azure networking, image management, Azure Monitor.
- Ability to design secure, scalable cloud solutions.
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Azure certifications: AZ‑140, AZ‑104, AZ‑
- Background in VDI, cloud engineering, or modern workplace
