About the role:

To provide high-quality engineering support to production operations by maintaining, repairing, and improving plant and equipment. The goal is to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime in a fast-paced biscuit manufacturing environment. This role requires a proactive approach to both planned and reactive maintenance, with a strong focus on safety, hygiene, and product quality.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, organize, and develop the shift engineering team to deliver high-quality maintenance and support
  • Resolve breakdowns swiftly, plan complex tasks effectively, and provide technical input to aid production decisions
  • Maintain accurate documentation, handovers, and records while ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene standards
  • Represent engineering in control meetings, escalate issues appropriately, and manage team absences and returns
  • Perform qualified mechanical/electrical tasks and support the ongoing development of team skills.

Key Ingredients for suitable candidates include:

Essential Skills:

  • Time-served engineer in mechanical or electrical disciplines
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (food industry preferred)
  • IOSH certification and food safety/hygiene qualification
  • Strong understanding of planned maintenance systems (e.g., Shire)
