Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative person to join the learning disability psychological professionals who are based in the community and part of a multidisciplinary learning disability community health service. The service has bases in Preston, Chorley and West Lancashire. They also have excellent links with local clinical psychology training courses (Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester).
The post-holder will receive regular supervision from a qualified clinical psychologist.
An upper second-class degree or above in Psychology and eligibility for graduate BPS membership is essential.
This post offers the opportunity to joint work with a multidisciplinary team for adults with a learning disability. The post-holder’s main role will be to work under the supervision of a clinical psychologist and to assist in the delivery of psychological support to adults with a learning disability, inline with current pathways.
This will include opportunities/requirements to deliver a range of assessments and interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist for adults with learning disabilities.
Previous experience of contact with adults with learning disabilities is desirable. There may also be opportunities for service related research.

• Under supervision from a qualified psychologist to assist in the professional and psychological care of clients within the service across all sectors of care by providing basic aspects of psychological assessment and psychological interventions.
• To assist in the development, design and implementation of programme and project work. To assist in the administration and interpretation of outcome related measures, collation and recording of statistics and production of relevant reports.
• All clinical work and actions to take place under the management and supervision of qualified psychology staff according to an agreed plan and associated goals within parameters set out by the Division of Clinical Psychology and Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust departmental policies and procedures in connection with Assistant Psychologists.
• Formal supervision with a named member of qualified psychology staff to take place on a weekly basis to facilitate work with additional frequent opportunities for informal contact with qualified psychology staff for guidance and advice
