Summary
Personal Assistant
Location: Llandre Bow Street
Hours: 3 hours per week (flexible by agreement)
Rate of Pay: £14 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a kind, patient and dependable Personal Assistant to provide companionship and supervision support to an 83-year-old lady in her own home.
This is a gentle, companionship-focused role. There is no personal care required, but you will be playing an important part in ensuring she feels safe, reassured and engaged during your time together.
The lady is independently mobile using a walking aid; however, she benefits from reassurance and light supervision — particularly if she needs to mobilise to the toilet during the support session. Your presence will help her feel confident and secure.
She lives with dementia, so experience or understanding of supporting someone with dementia would be highly valued but not essential, as a calm, consistent and reassuring approach is more essential.
She wears hearing aids (supported by her husband), and it is important these are in place during support hours to maximise communication and engagement.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Providing companionship and meaningful interaction
• Offering reassurance and light supervision when mobilising
• Preparing drinks and light refreshments
• Supporting a safe and comfortable environment
• Gently encouraging light activities at home
• Gradually building trust to potentially enjoy time in the garden or short drives out into the community in the future
Currently, she prefers to remain at home having lost confidence . Over time, the aim is to gently encourage small steps such as sitting in the garden or going for a short drive to reduce loneliness and provide her husband with some valuable respite time.
About You
You will:
• Have a naturally caring and patient nature
• Be calm, observant and reassuring
• Ideally have experience supporting people living with dementia
• Respect dignity and promote independence
• Be reliable and able to build a trusting relationship
• You must have a liking of cats as hers is very important
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in just a few hours a week — offering companionship, safety and support to both the lady and her husband.
If you are warm, dependable and looking for a small but impactful role, we would love to hear from you.
