Job objectives and responsibilitiesActively drive for service excellence, sustainability, social values, and efficiency initiatives at local level.

Co-ordinate the local delivery of all security operations.

Effective and pro-active communication with the customer.

Support the site security manager with pre-audit for monthly KPI meetings for all security operations.

Manage client expectations and resolve all concerns in timely manner.

Assist Mitie Site Security Manager as required.

Management and responsibility for site security equipment.

Proactively promote LiveSafe and ensure that the security team complete their mandatory LiveSafe training on eLearning.

Assist and support the site security manager and delivery in relation to the LiveSafe Champions Level 1 in partnership with the Mitie HSE manager.

Ensure that all officers are fully conversant with Mitie Lifeline and accident, near miss and Hazard Observation reporting.

Ensure that all Mitie staff who drive vehicle at work adhere to and work within established Company fleet policies and procedures.

Main dutiesDeputise for the Site security manager.

Maintain the integrity of physical security on a day-to-day basis through the delivery and management of physical security measures and controls.

Supporting the site security manager with the first line the management of Mitie security team officers. Responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of the security officers.

The Team Leader is to ensure that personnel detailed for duty are punctual and dressed in the supplied uniform/PPE. They must ensure that all on-duty Security officers are always displaying their SIA Licence and to check licence renewal dates. Details to be logged in the DOB daily.

The Team Leader is to complete a full handover with the oncoming shift, accounting for keys, vehicles, incidents, staffing issues, special instructions.

Ensure security officers within their team are deployed in line with defined tasks and that they are aware of their duties and are fully conversant with policies and procedures concerning all aspects of their duties and have signed the assignment instructions/SOPs and Risk Assessments to confirm their understanding.

Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of QinetiQ and HMG policies, plans, processes, and local instructions and moreover ensuring that Staff, contractors and visitors abide by them.

In the event of a threatened attack on site by subversive elements, or in the event of a major incident likely to imperil life and/or property, the TL is to ensure that all necessary action is taken. Instructions for actions are contained within the Site Emergency Plan.

The Team Leader is to ensure that they note and actions any entries made in the Daily Occurrence Book (DOB) and enter the names of all personnel reporting for their relevant duty. They must ensure that all records, both electronic and manual are correctly maintained.

Support the site security manager with the maintenance of the staff rosters to ensure all shifts are covered. The Team Leader is to ensure that all leave applications are passed through their line manager for authorisation. The Team Leader is to ensure that no more than 10% of the shift strength is permitted to take annual leave at any one time. All leave is to be allocated fairly.

Support the site security manager with any manning shortfall, including resourcing cover officers and escalating any issues in a timely and appropriate manner to the site security manager/Mitie Operations manager.

Ensure that the Security Officers are afforded their designated meal breaks. Requests to take meal breaks off site are to be granted if operationally possible.

The Team Leader is, where possible, to visit every officer on duty at their post during a shift and to ensure that regular radio contact is maintained with the officers.

The Team Leader is to bring to the immediate attention of their line manager any of the following matters involving staff under their control:

Disciplinary problems.

Welfare problems.

Manning problems.

Support with the investigations of all security incidents, complaints, etc.

Ensure that the security personnel are performing in line with QinetiQ and Mitie values.

Ensure that all on-site security systems remain fully functional and fit for purpose. Raise works tickets through the client service desks to resolve technical issues and faults.

The Team Leader is to ensure that all forms of communication (radio, telephone and IT) made available to them are in a serviceable condition at the start of the shift and that correct operating procedures are followed.

When informed of security alert state changes by the appropriate authorities, these must be recorded in the daily occurrence book and arrangements made for the alert state boards located near the Main Entrance to be updated.

Ensure security events are reported through the client's system and fully investigate all site security incidents, providing reports and corrective actions as required.

Support site security inductions, awareness campaigns and security compliance audits.

Identify, observe, recognise, and report on Improvements and changes as required.

Work well with limited supervision, in a busy operational environment and prioritise workload.

Ability to work under pressure to demanding deadlines.

To work within established Company policies and procedures.

Promote company values and standards and exhibit appropriate behaviour in accordance with Company ethos.

Demonstrate safety, integrity & commitment at all times.

Maintain excellent levels of communication throughout the team.

Ensure that operational delivery is maintained, and appropriate training is completed for all areas of the role.

Escalate all matters when appropriate to the Site security manager and Mitie Operations Manager.

Carry out any other duties as and when necessary, to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs.

Additional Control Room Duties (where applicable)Monitoring and responding to Close Circuit Television (CCTV) Equipment.

Monitoring and responding to Intruder Detector Systems (IDS).

Monitoring and responding to Fire Alarm Systems.

Monitoring and responding to Access Control Systems (ACS).

Use of emergency telephone and telephone exchange in ‘silent' hours.

Training RequirementsWhere possible complete Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF).

Mitie Security Induction - eLearning modules to be completed by Team leader and ensure that the security team also complete their modules.

Ensure that all officers complete the Security Essentials modules.

Complete SCaN For All Staff - ensure that all officers have completed SCaN for all staff modules.

Act Awareness eLearning - In addition ensure that all officers have completed the modules.

Complete the 11 LiveSafe modules. In addition ensure that all officers have completed the modules.

Person SpecificationAbility to be screened to SC Level - or have a current SC clearance - Minimum standard.

British nationality - UK Passport holder.

Hold a clean driving licence - Manual/Automatic.

Hold an SIA licence - DS, SG, CP- CCTV Licence required.

People management experience.

First Aid at Work certificate desired, if not must be willing to achieve it.

Minimum of 5 years proven experience in a similar role.

Must understand client needs.

Effective communicator.

Understand key Mitie principles and assist in delivering this in every aspect of site functions.

Must have excellent IT skills and a good understanding of all Microsoft Office applications.

Health and Safety responsibilitiesFollow Group and company policies and procedures at all times.

Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.

Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.

Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system.

Information SecurityEnsure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities.

Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager.

Report actual and suspected security incidents.
