University of Staffordshire offers both undergraduate and post-graduate routes into primary teaching. We were successfully inspected by OFSTED in 2024, ranked 5th place in Guardian Subject League Tables for 2025 and are fully accredited to offer teacher training. We are looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic academic to lead teaching on our BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS (3-7) (5-11), PGCE Primary awards, Primary Teacher Apprenticeship, and Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.

We are seeking an individual with substantial and high‑quality experience in teaching primary‑aged children, who brings genuine passion for the development of the primary teaching workforce. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to shaping a dynamic and innovative award, and we are looking for someone who can play a key role in its ongoing design and direction.

Applicants should hold an appropriate teaching qualification, supported by a relevant postgraduate academic qualification. Experience in leading Initial Teacher Education (ITE), as well as expertise in school leadership, staff development, or professional training, would be highly advantageous for this post.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for the postholder will be to:

To play a role in the development and delivery of academic provision to undergraduate and postgraduate students, specifically in the area of primary initial teacher training and related disciplines.
To contribute to ITE Mentor Development and training
To observe ITE students in placements
Contribute to the teacher training courses, curriculum and quality assurance processes
To contribute to University led and/or School initiatives and developments in line with strategic business development plans
