Summary


We have a great opportunity for a Medical Secretary to join our Community Paediatrics Team. The role is based at Upton Hospital, Fir Tree House, and is offered with flexible working hours and some remote working.


We are looking for someone with proven administration/secretarial experience who will be able to take on administration responsibilities from patient referrals to discharge, manging consultant diaries to include booking clinic appointments, typing correspondence, manging electronic mail inboxes, and dealing with patient queries, in addition to providing overall support to allocated consultants/doctors. You will also have the opportunity to manage a specialist area.

• Provide administration support to the Community Paediatrics Team.

• The duties of this post will include direct administrative support and diary management for named Paediatricians.

• The production of letters and reports with medical vocabulary by audio or copy method.

• The post will include exchanging verbal and written information with patients, staff and carers relating to appointments, admissions and meetings, requiring tact, confidentiality and diplomacy at all times.

• The post will require close liaison with the other teams within the Specialist Children’s Service and outside agencies, GP practices, Social Services and Educational Services daily.

• The post holder will be part of a team of Medical Secretaries and will be required, on occasions, to work autonomously in the absence of the Team Leader.

The  “must haves” for this role: 

• At least one year’s secretarial experience – NHS experience would be advantageous, although training will be provided for the right applicant.

• Excellent audio/copy/touch typing skills – attention to detail is a must.

• Intermediate knowledge and experience of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.

• Ability to independently manage time, prioritise and work to deadlines.

• Demonstrate flexibility to meet the demands of an unpredictable workload.
