SRG are searching for a hardworking, motivated individual who is quick to learn and apply themselves to join our clients dynamic, collaborative, and industrious protein production team. This is a fully lab‑based two-year contract supporting the execution of protein expression, purification and production projects requiring multi‑mg quantities of proteins.
The role offers the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with protein expression in microbial and other host systems, as well as downstream purification techniques.
Role Profile & Expectations
- Work as part of the protein production team to deliver multi‑mg quantities of purified protein to support our clients' critical projects.
- Learn and conduct analytical methods to ensure final samples meet defined specifications.
- Accurately record results in accordance with company standards.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings within project groups.
- Work safely, following all company HSE policies and procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Practical experience with recombinant protein expression systems such as E. coli.
- Strong theoretical understanding of chromatography techniques, including:
- Affinity chromatography
- Ion Exchange (IEX)
- Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC)
- Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC)
- Ability to characterise proteins using SDS-PAGE and Western Blot.
- Evidence of troubleshooting and innovative problem solving.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and planning skills.
Desirable Experience
- 1-2 years' laboratory experience in relevant areas.
- Experience using AKTA and KingFisher purification systems.
- Familiarity with data management tools such as Benchling.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science), OR
- Master's degree, OR 1-2 years' experience in a laboratory environment.
