Summary

Job Title: Donation Assistant / Delivery & Collection Operative

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Maximising revenue for St Davids Hospice by effective management of donations, identifying suitable donations for our network of shops & Ecommerce platforms.
Successful distribution of suitable donations to our charity shops following the sorting stage help increase sales and profits available to St Davids Hospice, which help support the clinical team and individuals within our communities needing access to our services.
Delivering and collecting second hand goods & St Davids Hospice property from and to customers, shops & Hospice sites in a timely and efficient manner. The delivery/collection operative will represent the Hospice professionally and will ensure that all deliveries and collections are completed in a safe an accurate manner providing excellent customer service.

Handle operational tasks, escalating complex decisions to higher management.



MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sort and categorise donated goods based on quality, condition, and potential resale value. High value items should be referred to our online sales specialist for resell on our Ecommerce platforms to maxmise revenue. Support our network of shops with suitable stock levels & accurate shop order fulfilment. Unsuitable items should be disposed of in a proper manner ensuring recycling and approved disposal methods are adhered to.
Handling of a variety of items such as Furniture, Homeware, Electricals, and bags/boxes of other donated items.
Delivering and collecting goods to customers or hospice shops across North West Wales, providing excellent customer service in a professional manner, returning them to the Hub, Shop locations or other Hospice approved sites.
Accurately log and track all deliveries and collections while maintaining the cleanliness of vehicles and workspaces.
Additionally, providing information to customers about the work St Davids Hospice carry out.
Administrative Support, Training and Compliance:
All administration must be accurate and in accordance with the Hospice policies and procedures, embracing and utilizing IT systems, liaising regularly with your line manager to review sales results, give feedback and share ideas to improve sales/efficiency
Ensure all mandatory training is completed and kept up to date, attending training courses as required.
To meet the objectives of the retail strategy including financial, performance and service quality.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all Information Governance policies and procedures


Vehicle Maintenance & Route Planning
Conducting daily vehicle checks (fuel,oil,tyres etc.) ensuring that the vehicle in us is roadworthy, any defects should be reported immediately to the Hub manager. All company vehicles being used should be treated with care and cleanliness should be maintained.
Additionally, the operative is tasked with planning efficient routes for daily deliveries and collections using available technology and adjusting routes as needed due to traffic, weather, or other conditions to ensure timely deliveries.
General
Following company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with traffic laws and loading/unloading protocols to prevent damage to goods
Adhering to health and safety standards and managing physical demands such as carrying heavy equipment and stock in line with manual handling training/guidance. Operatives are expected to work both autonomously and under the instruction of higher management, managing workloads and deadlines effectively.
Support the Hub Manager with volunteer training & development
Responsible for promoting the hospice’s work to the public, and fulfilling any additional duties assigned by senior management, while upholding professional conduct in line with company values.
