The Council’s small Park Ranger team helps to ensure the public can enjoy our many excellent parks and green spaces by managing anti-social behaviour and undertaking security and enforcement activities, together with the supervision and organisation of events, inspection of facilities and liaison with Police and other agencies.

In this role, you will support the Senior and Duty Rangers in the day-to-day operation of the Park Ranger team to achieve the above and ensure that a high level of performance and the effectiveness of the service is maintained.

The team of four rangers work 365 days per year based on a shift pattern, including working three weekends out of four. The working hours vary during the year; ranging from 12.00pm – 5.00pm during winter to 11.00pm – 9.00pm during the height of summer.

You must have the ability to deal with members of the public in a positive and friendly, but firm manner and be able to deal with sensitive situations including conflict and aggression. You must be physically fit and willing to patrol on foot and on an e-bike and be capable of working long shifts, outdoors and in all weather conditions. You must also have a full clean driving licence. A qualification at diploma level in countryside management or a discipline related to the post is desirable, as is a current first aid certificate.

Appointment to this post is subject to the receipt of a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service.
