Summary

A bit about Hatton Traffic Management

Hatton Traffic Management is a leading provider of temporary traffic management services along our nation’s roads. We install the safety system around highway work sites to keep workers and the public protected. These systems will range anything from portable traffic lights in the city through to lane closures on the motorways.
Hatton has developed from a small family firm in the Northeast of England 40 years ago into a major force across England and Scotland within the highways, rail, and utilities sectors, working closely with our clients, as a key part of their integrated supply chain.

Over the past 8 years particularly, we have grown year on year from a turnover of £5million to £20+million in the coming year. We have won contracts with major Tier 1 contractors (Costain, Skanska, Balfour Beatty etc) as well as long-term frameworks with major utility companies during this period. We have a significant forward-looking order book already in place, and many exciting tender opportunities in the pipeline.

We are now looking for a QHSE Coordinator to join our depot team in Amersham and play a key part in ensuring the highest standard of quality, health, and safety is assured across the South region. You will be based at Amersham Depot for 3 days, but will travel to Chelmsford Depot & Tottenham Depot each week.

No previous traffic management or highway industry experience is necessary for this role, but it is critical that you are a strong people manager and care about ensuring our site teams go home to their families safe. In addition, you will ensure they have a well-maintained plant and facility delivered in conjunction with your yard person. A strong knowledge of Transport and Health and safety would be an advantage.

Role Specification

• Coordinate QHSE and transport compliance activities across allocated depots
• Oversee QHSE standards relating to company transport and plant assets
• Support incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action close-out
• Plan and undertake audits, inspections, and compliance checks
• Provide practical QHSE and transport compliance support to operational teams
• Monitor compliance with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Promote a proactive and positive QHSE culture across the region

The QHSE Coordinator will support the QHSE Manager by coordinating all Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental, and Transport compliance activities across the allocated depots. The role is operationally focused, providing visible, practical support to depot and site teams.

The coordinator will be responsible for overseeing QHSE and transport-related compliance for company vehicles, plant, and associated assets, ensuring inspections, checks, and records are maintained in line with legal and company requirements.

The role also includes managing incident reporting and investigations, supporting audits and inspections, and working with operational teams to implement corrective actions and drive continual improvement.

What’s in it for you?

• Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (8:00 – 16:30 hours)
• Company Van to support regular travel between depots
• Generous annual leave plus UK bank holidays
• Health Cash Plan (after probationary period)
• Help@Hand Health & Wellbeing Support Plan
• Company Laptop and PPE
• Company Phone or Phone Allowance
• On-site parking
• Cycle to Work Scheme
• Workplace Pension (auto enrolment after 12 weeks)
• Investment in personal development (internal and external training provision) and support of professional memberships

• Experience of managing employees
• IT proficient (Microsoft Office suite of software) and ability to work with other business management systems
• Interpersonal skills to be able to interface successfully with a wide range of people within the company and our service providers.
