SEN Specialist Outreach Tutor
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Prospero Teaching is looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Specialist Tutor to deliver bespoke 1:1 education packages to young people across Romford and Havering who are currently unable to attend mainstream school.
As an SEN Outreach Tutor, you will plan and deliver highly personalised lessons that meet the individual needs of learners with a range of special educational needs (including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties). Your role will be to rebuild confidence, support emotional regulation, and help learners re-engage with education at a pace that is right for them.
Many pupils will have been out of education for a significant period, may present with barriers to learning, or require additional pastoral support. You will create structured, nurturing sessions that promote progress both academically and personally. Prospero Teaching will support you throughout the placement, ensuring each learner's development is tracked effectively.
CONTRACT / POSITION DETAILS
- Location: Various locations across Romford & Havering
- Position: SEN Specialist Outreach Tutor
- Type of Work: Contract
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duration: Dependent on individual student needs
- Contract Type: Temporary
- Hours: Part-time or full-time depending on your availability
- Rate of Pay: From £25 per hour
- Session Length: Minimum 1 hour per session; maximum 3 hours per session
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
- QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent qualification
- Experience working with children and young people with SEN
- Minimum 6 months' experience in a UK school or specialist setting
- Up-to-date Safeguarding training (desirable but not essential)
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for this role through Prospero Teaching, you must:
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK
- Possess an enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
- Provide two professional, child‑related references covering the last two years
