Female Part-time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 94-year-old woman living alone in my flat in Penarth. My husband recently passed away. He was a solicitor while I worked as a teacher and spent time working in radio. I have some support from my two children but feel lonely.
My social life is very important to me. I enjoy seeing friends whenever possible and enjoy theatre and the opera, although my bad hearing limits what I can still do.
I have severe arthritis so need support to lift things (even the kettle is painful). I am physically quite frail but mentally I am still very sharp. I also have a heart condition.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I am looking for a female PA to support me in the evening – to prepare my supper and provide a level of companionship. In the evening, I can feel anxious about being alone and so am looking for someone who can help me feel reassured. Help with personal hygiene and preparation for bed may be necessary.
HOURS OF WORK
2 hours of care on 3 to 4 evenings per a week. 5pm – 7pm.
Also potential to cover hours when my other PAs are off work.
RATES OF PAY
£14.70 per hour.
TASKS INVOLVED
Preparing my evening meal
Clearing up after a meal
Providing companionship and support
Help in maintaining personal hygiene
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
A polite and patient person
Female only due to personal care
A reliable person
A good communicator
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
