Summary

WED Credit Union is seeking a motivated and proactive Business and Community Development Officer to promote our products and services and strengthen our presence across the community. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about social value and relationship-building, and who can act as a strong advocate for the credit union’s mission.

As a member-owned financial co operative serving the people of Cumbria, WED Credit Union provides savings and affordable loan products designed to improve the financial wellbeing of our members. In this role, you will develop and maintain relationships with existing partners, identify new partnership opportunities, and support strategic growth and collaboration.

The postholder will represent WED Credit Union within the community, helping to identify and develop initiatives that support business growth while delivering social impact. The role is based in Whitehaven and offers flexible working arrangements. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

This is a fixed term position of one year, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

Key requirements include:
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Demonstrable experience in business and community development
• Strong influencing and relationship management skills
• A clear commitment to credit union values and social purpose
• Experience with grant funding and monitoring
• Confidence in delivering presentations and facilitating meetings
• A community focused approach and understanding of local impact
• A clean driving licence is preferred

Working hours: 25–30 hours per week (flexible)
