Summary

Your new company
Hays are partnered with a well-known non-profit organisation in the Manchester region to help them recruit a new senior procurement role within their structure. This organisation has a mature procurement environment and already has great stakeholder buy-in from the wider business, so it's a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in public-sector procurement and contract management to take on a strategic senior level position.

Your new role
As Senior Procurement & Contracts Manager, you will be involved in the more strategic side of procurement management, which will entail developing and delivering procurement, contract management, and supplier relationship management strategies across the procurement function, ultimately supporting the delivery of optimal value for money across the organisation. A crucial part of this role is around ensuring a robust contract management process, so you will oversee the delivery of a contract assurance programme which will ensure that processes and controls are in place - especially for some of the company's higher value and more complex contracts. Leading a small team within procurement and contract management, you will support colleagues with the implementation and management of contracts, and you'll contribute to the leadership of the wider Procurement team. This role would suit someone looking to take a step into a Head of Procurement or similar level leadership position.

Operating at a senior level, you will have overall sight of the Procurement Team's pipeline of work, and you will provide detailed reports and insights to the senior leadership team which will ultimately support decision-making across the business. The role will involve analysing procurement data in Excel, and also creating insightful PowerPoint presentations which you will use to deliver information to senior stakeholders.

The role is based in the Manchester office 2-3 days per week depending on business need, but once every 2 months, there will be a requirement to travel to London for senior leadership meetings.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Detailed understanding of PA23 and relevant procurement legislation within the public & non-profit sectors
  • Experience of programme management / project management within a public-sector procurement environment
  • Proven background in public-sector procurement at a mid-senior level, in a role such as Procurement Manager, Senior Procurement Manager, Commercial Lead etc
  • Very strong communication and presentation skills
  • Good IT literacy skills, including use of PowerPoint and Excel (with ability to use Pivot Tables and basic formulae for analysing data)
  • Strong contract management and stakeholder management skills
  • Ideally MCIPS qualified or educated to degree level (but not essential)

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive starting salary between £70-74K
  • Hybrid working with 2-3 days working in the Manchester office each week
  • Matched pension scheme up to 9%
  • Discretionary company bonus / corporate award scheme
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays + Christmas closure period
  • Private medical insurance options
  • Life assurance 3x base salary
  • Professional membership annual subscription (i.e. CIPS membership)
  • £100 annual contribution towards your learning and development in an area of your choosing!
