Summary

SEND Learning Support Assistant, Bridgewater
Full Time | Long Term Opportunity

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND provision in Bridgewater that is looking to recruit a SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) / SEN Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis.

This welcoming and supportive setting provides education for children and young people aged 4–19 with a range of additional needs, including:

• Autism (ASC / ASD)
• Communication and interaction needs
• Learning differences
• Sensory and developmental needs

The provision offers small class sizes, personalised learning, and a structured environment where pupils are supported to build communication skills, independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.

As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, helping them access classroom activities, follow routines, and develop key life and learning skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND
• Assist pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
• Support the delivery of structured learning activities
• Use visual supports and routines to help pupils access learning
• Encourage independence and confidence in daily tasks
• Work closely with teachers and other support staff to meet pupils’ needs
• Support personal care where required

The Ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant Will Have

• A patient, calm, and nurturing approach
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• Confidence supporting pupils with autism or communication needs
• Experience in SEND, care work, youth work, support work, or education (desirable but not essential)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A driving licence (highly desirable due to location)
