Summary

We're seeking an experienced Neighbourhood Officer in St Helens to support our social housing client on a maternity cover contract until the end of July. Working 37 hours per week, you'll work on a hybrid basis, splitting your week between the office, tenant visits on your patch, and home working.

A driving licence with valid business insurance and access to your own vehicle is essential to be considered for this role. Previous experience in tenancy management within social housing also essential, including ASB casework, tenancy sustainment, income maximisation and estate management.


Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver effective tenancy, housing, and estate management services across an allocated patch.
  • Manage day-to-day tenancy functions such as abandonments, relationship breakdowns, unauthorised occupation/subletting, tenancy fraud, and access failures.
  • Conduct a variety of visits including property viewings, audits, exchange inspections, tenancy reviews, new tenant visits, and support with evictions.
  • Triage and manage ASB cases, maintaining your own caseload and collaborating with the Enforcement Team for escalated matters.
  • Identify tenants at risk of tenancy failure, implementing early interventions and signposting to internal and external support services.
  • Prepare and serve legal notices when required.
  • Carry out estate walkabouts, addressing issues impacting neighbourhood quality and working with internal teams to maintain safe, attractive communities.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong background in tenancy and estate management, including experience with ASB casework, tenancy sustainment, and compliance.
  • Solid understanding of housing legislation, policies, and best practice.
  • A driving licence, business insurance, and access to your own vehicle.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across office, home, and patch-based environments.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident IT skills and experience using housing management systems.
