Summary
The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level (or with demonstrable equivalent experience) and hold CIPD Graduate level membership with experience of working in a large and complex organisation.
You will be autonomous in your role and be required to effectively prioritise and organise your own caseload, of employee relations & sickness cases, and manage conflicting demands upon your time, as well as contributing to policy design & review.
You will be responsible for working in partnership with our People Managers in providing pragmatic, responsive, legally compliant and value adding HR advice, to meet the People Strategy, plus the Workforce, Divisional and Corporate objectives.
This vacancy is open to all internal and external candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made.
This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis for 12 months as it has been established to provide cover for an employee on maternity leave. Whilst this post is advertised on a fixed term / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
The HR Advisor delivers a proactive, high‑quality HR service to Divisional and Medical Managers and staff, aligned with the Trust’s People Strategy and quality agenda. Responsible for operational HR, the post ensures efficient, business‑focused provision that meets internal and external standards and adapts to evolving divisional needs.
Key duties include developing systems and processes to deliver excellent HR support; building line managers’ people‑management capability through coaching and guidance; and supporting Divisions under the Senior HR Business Partner to implement the People Strategy. The role may contribute to Trust‑wide initiatives and HR projects and will deputise for the Senior HR Business Partner when required.
The post supports agile working but requires travel between Trust sites as needed. This appointment is offered on a fixed‑term basis to March 2027, with potential for permanence subject to performance and business need.

In this varied and busy role, you will support the HR Manager & Senior HR Business Partner, providing support to a specific division.
You will uphold the Trust vales & behaviours and work with your leaders to develop a culture which attracts and retains a diverse and engaged workforce, who deliver the best patient care to the users of our services.
Work with the Senior HR Business Partners to provide a focused and bespoke approach to operational HR management.
The post holder will use an internal consultancy approach enabling them to research, respond, design and delivery bespoke HR solutions to Divisional problems. Key to this approach is ensuring that there is a clear understanding of the need for consistency in service provided to the Divisions.
Provide professional HR advice and support to staff and managers across the Trust.
To work with all HR professionals across each function to ensure that lessons are learned, and the service is business focussed.
Align own practice to the delivery of the Trust’s Corporate Objectives and People Strategy and thereby drive the delivery of divisional.
Performance Management against agreed HR Indicators / targets.
Develop key relationships with internal service users to determine key service requirements.
Advise medical staff, Managers and employees on the interpretation and application of terms and conditions of employment, Trust policies, current legislation, and Codes of Practice, ensuring that good employment practices are developed, maintained and that legal obligations are upheld.
Advise medical staff, managers on job planning process and use of Allocate job planning system.
Provide professional advice and support to Managers / Medical Managers dealing with employment issues, including the use of the Trust’s disciplinary, grievance and capability procedures, ensuring that procedures are followed and fairly and consistently applied. This will include support around the preparation and management of Employment Tribunals as appropriate Support managers / Medical Managers in developing and maintaining Personal Development Review systems, ensuring that staff in the Divisions are appraised annually and have a Personal Development Plan in line with Trust Policy.
Advise Managers / Medical managers on the management of attendance, acting as appropriate, and ensuring a consistent approach amongst the Management Team, to assist in reducing levels of absenteeism and thereby maximising Proactively support divisional management to actively review and manage both Long and Short-Term Absenteeism in line with Trust Policy.
