Job Introduction
We’re looking for a Housekeeper to join our Sodexo team at North Devon District Hospital. In this vital role, you’ll help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Your work will directly support health and wellbeing throughout the hospital. What you’ll do:
Complete scheduled cleaning tasks in assigned areas in line with policies and procedures.
Maintain high cleanliness standards and safely dispose of domestic and clinical waste.
Replenish consumables and manage cleaning stock and equipment in compliance with COSHH.
Carry out a range of cleaning duties, including floors, surfaces, sanitary areas, and waste collection.
Use PPE, approved equipment, and follow safety guidelines at all times.
Respond to ad-hoc cleaning requests as directed.
Work with clinical staff to provide a patient-focused service.
Report maintenance or care issues and undertake additional duties as required.
What you bring:
Working within a cleaning team, dealing with waste, smells, bodily excretions and dirt

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, colleagues, clients
Ability to work independently, flexibly and professionally – dealing with stressful and changeable situations
Ability to adhere to instructions, standards and procedures
Ability to build relationships and show respect for other people

Excellent customer service skills
Basic literacy
Physically able to push a cleaning trolley and move light furniture
High standard of personal hygiene
