Summary

The postholder's duties will be primarily at the Neurophysiology department at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The principal duties of the post-holders will be to contribute to the running of the general diagnostic clinical neurophysiological requirements of the department including EMG and EEG, video-telemetry, evoked potential, and epilepsy (including pre-surgical evaluation including intracranial recording) service in adults and children. The candidate will be able to express a subspecialty interest to complement the department, with scope to undertake subspecialist activity in NCS/EMG, EEG, VT, or sleep work. There is currently no on-call commitment. A wide-ranging knowledge of clinical neurophysiology will be required and is one of the specific attractions of the post. The department is keen to attract candidates with an interest in paediatric neurophysiology in particular. The post-holders will be required to participate in the urgent adult and paediatric EEG reporting rota, which currently provides an in-hours weekday service, including prospective cover during colleagues' leave of absence. The day-to-day activities will include performing or supervising reporting of EEG and video-telemetry, supporting clinical meetings and case discussions, and conducting EMG or other specialty clinics. The post-holders will also be responsible for supervising and guiding registrar and physiologists within the Neurophysiology department. The successful candidate will work with three full-time consultants and two part time, to provide a comprehensive specialist diagnostic clinical neurophysiology service with some responsibility for neurology, for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT), the Thames Valley, and beyond.
