Summary

The role of a Disclosure Officer is critical to the ability of the Environment Agency to conduct robust investigations into criminal activity associated to environmental offending, which is key to our organisational objectives to protect and improve the environment.

As a Disclosure Officer you will be part of The Yorkshire Area Enforcement Team, and you will perform an imperative role on serious and significant environmental crime cases in compliance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 and related legislation and guidance.

You will be assigned as the principal disclosure officer on specific cases, working with the investigating officers and our legal services department. This will require you to build and maintain strong working relationships over a wide spectrum to provide the best possible service.

You will also be available to provide advice and guidance about disclosure and best practice.

The role involves working on complex investigations involving significant volumes of evidence and unused material generated during the enquiry and dealing with it in the appropriate way according to the legislation.

The team

You'll be part of our Yorkshire Area Enforcement Team, which specialises in tackling serious environmental crime. While our primary focus is on criminal activity within the waste sector, we also lead investigations into other environmental offences.

We work closely with other Area Teams on significant investigations, as well as with our National Environmental Crime Unit. We also collaborate with external enforcement partners to ensure a coordinated and robust approach to environmental protection.
