Summary

Flooding is one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time and its urgency is growing as climate change accelerates. If you're passionate about protecting communities, influencing sustainable development, and making a real difference, this is your chance to be part of the solution. As a Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) Team Member in the Partnership and Strategic Overview (PSO) Team, you’ll be working at the very heart of the team that delivers the strategy for FCERM in Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire (GMMC).

You’ll contribute to the delivery of our statutory and regulatory duties in planning, permitting, and flood risk data management. You’ll also support the delivery of our Investment Programme, help fulfil our strategic overview responsibilities with other Risk Management Authorities and support engagement work with our communities.

Your responsibilities will include:

Responding to Freedom of Information requests, sharing vital flood risk data with customers and partners
Providing administrative support to meetings and project boards, helping drive collaboration and progress
Managing shared inboxes and directing queries to the right teams
Develop a good understanding of flood risk issues in your area and use this information to communicate and influence internal and external customers and partners

You may also be asked to support other areas of the team’s work, giving you the opportunity to broaden your experience.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You’re required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training is given. We’ll work with you to find a role that suits your interests and circumstances.

We’re fully committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve.

The team

In GMMC PSO Team we’re not just managing flood and coastal risk, we’re reimagining how communities can thrive in the face of climate uncertainty.

Together with local communities and our partners, we’re building a safer, more resilient future. If you’re ready to be part of something bigger and to use your skills to make a lasting impact, this is where your journey begins.

Experience/skills required

Through your experience to date you will ideally be able to demonstrate most of the following:

Ability to understand and analyse technical information
Ability to organise and prioritise your workload
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
